New Year, New Decade

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

2020...A new decade. It is hard to believe an entire decade has flown by since 2010 and two decades since 2000! (Remember we thought the world was going to end at the millennium?) Now, 20 years have flown by! I truly believe that the older you get the faster time passes (it seems to anyway)! As I look back and reflect on the last decade, there are many things I wish I could do over and many things I wouldn't change for anything! I wish I would have started becoming a healthier version of myself years ago...I should have taken longer maternity leave with my babies, they are only little for such a short while...I feel like I just rushed that time away! I'm so glad that we've traveled so much these last few years, with and without our kiddos. It has give us so many memories to cherish!

So with this new year and a new decade just beginning, here are my goals - not resolutions, I always tend to break those...Goals are a work in progress!

-live intentionally

-take every moment in as though it's my last

-enjoy the little things

-do not be so quick to make conclusions

-do things that I've been afraid to do (i.e. this blog)

-continue my progress on living a healthier lifestyle

To ring in the new year and new decade, I decided to throw a fancy dinner party at home and include the kiddos! Dress up, put on all things sparkly and have some fun! As we all know, things don't always go as planned when you include kids! We had one three-nager temper tantrum that resulted in one family leaving early and taking their dinner to go instead of eating at the party! We had one seven year old who was way over stimulated and ended up in bed by 9 p.m. crying his eyes out. We had two teenage girls who tried, but ultimately failed, to keep the eye rolling under control! Needless to say, 2019 ended with six parents drinking their beverage of choice!

Regardless of how your 2019 ended, cheers to you in 2020. May you be blessed, have fun and enjoy this year... the 20's are upon us!

Here are a few pictures I thought I'd share from our impromptu New Years Eve Kid-Friendly Fancy Dinner Party...

New Year Tree - All Christmas decorations had been taken down and stored away, but I just couldn't bear to see the tree taken down yet, and frankly we didn't have time...I just threw a few decorations which I dug out of my decor closet and made a New Year Tree! Simple but festive!

Table Decorations - Very simple but festive. Honestly, I just used what I had and hoped it all came together! My dishes are from Coton Colors and just make me happy every single time I use them and the gold silverware is a new purchase from Amazon...
