Top 5 Quarantine Essentials

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

Quarantined! Never a word I though would pertain to me or the majority of the world! Here we are though!

I had planned on highlighting my favorite spring break essentials and outfits in this blog post, but since our spring breaks have been cancelled and we are pretty much wearing leggings daily for the unforeseeable future, I figured I would just tell you what has helped get us through these first few weeks!

I now find myself homeschooling two kids, soon to be three (my niece who has been here for three weeks now, starts her homeschool with her district on Monday) and my husband who travels 50 percent of the time is now home as well - and ya'll, I am on overload! I'm used to quiet days and running errands while the kids are at school! That all changed real fast! Luckily, the girls are teens and can pretty much work on their daily school work independently, but my son is a hyperactive eight year old and needs to be guided with every task!

So here's what has helped get us through these first few weeks, besides lots of wine! Ha!

1. Daily Outside Time - I have made it a priority for all of us to exercise daily. We've went for walks, bike rides, the kids have jumped on the trampoline, fished and played baseball! Whatever you can do to get fresh air do it! Make it a priority - I promise it helps!

One afternoon we went for a walk on KY Dam. The sunshine and

fresh air felt so good!

2. Daily Reading Time - I've made the kids read a book daily! They usually read for 30 minutes or an hour depending on the day. That gives me at least a tiny bit of quiet time to think, schedule grocery pickups, etc.

TIP - If you have a kiddo who doesn't like to read, have them set a timer for 30 mins. That always seems to help my

daughter who is not a big reader!

One morning I woke up and caught this cutie! He had made

his own hot chocolate and was reading a book!

3. A Garage Makeover - Having the hubby working on a special project has helped keep his mind off of our current events and has given him something to do that isn't in the house! His business is at a complete standstill so even working isn't really an option for him...This has kept him from going stir crazy! The dust and mess has made me a little crazier, but at least he's happy and has something productive to do!

Photo coming soon!

4. Working My Online Business - I've made it a priority to work on my business a little harder these last few weeks! Our current events reinforced just how much having a plan B has helped our family in the time of so many layoffs and displacements - knowing I have a steady income coming in regardless is something that eases so much stress!

Keeping myself focused on helping others find a Plan B and

helping people have the best skin of their live!

5. Getting Ready Each Day - Every morning I get up, get ready, put my makeup on and start the day! Even if it's a little later in the morning than if the kids were in school...I wake the kids up, have them get dressed, get ready, make their beds and start on their work! It has helped me feel better about myself and the kiddos feel better too! I may be wearing leggings or sweatpants, but at least my hair is fixed and my makeup is on!

Even if my hair is just in a ponytail, I feel so much better if I have

my hair fixed and makeup on.
